WHAT IS THE PBE

The Public Beta Environment (PBE) is a limited-access public League of Legends realm where players help us test "declassified" features, content and experiments that aren't yet (and may never be) ready for prime time.

Why do we have the PBE?

Riot's mission is to be the most player-focused game company we can be, and part of that is making sure that we're taking cues from you. Your feedback is what fuels us as we strive to make the League experience better. When it comes to rooting out problems, testing ideas, and building the game, the more feedback from you we can get earlier in the process, the better off we're gonna be. The PBE lets us call up a bunch of passionate League of Legends players to get their eyes, brains and QWER keys in front of cool new stuff while it’s still being worked out.

How does it work?

Periodically, we’ll invite a small group of tester applicants (selected based on a variety of criteria) to test out upcoming features and content for a specific PBE cycle. Invited testers then get to create a PBE account, download the PBE client and play. For the time that testers have PBE access, they’ll be able to test and provide feedback on upcoming champions, features and other content in order to help make sure it’s ready for release.

After each PBE cycle ends, testers will be returned to the pool of applicants, from which we'll draw a fresh group of testers for the following cycle. We do this to ensure we're choosing the right testers for the right features as well as to increase the number of voices that influence the direction of League of Legends.

Dominion

The Crystal Scar

Dominate your Enemies

The Crystal Scar is the flagship map of the Dominion game mode, in which two teams of five champions compete to capture and hold a series of control points. Holding the majority of these points will slowly damage the opposing team’s nexus, bringing you closer to victory.

Conquering the Scar

The capture points on the Crystal Scar are arranged in a ring around a neutral area that contains powerful, team-specific buffs. Each team can claim the powerful Storm Shield from the middle of the map. Quests will also occur throughout the match, offering each team the opportunity to win a powerful team buff by completing a team objective.

Maintaining Control

Capturing a Point
Capture points on the Crystal Scar are acquired over the course of a brief channel time. While channeling, your champion is unable to take any action without disrupting this process. Damage or crowd control effects will also interrupt your capture. If you’re interrupted while capturing a node, you’ll have to wait a moment before channeling another capture.

Choosing your Battles
Choosing which enemy point to attack is essential to victory on the Crystal Scar. Oftentimes, it’s better to circumvent a well-entrenched objective in favor of one that easier to conquer. Also, since capturing a point requires a sustained channel time, you may want to bring at least one ally along when engaging a defended point.
Speed shrines throughout the map can help you quickly reach vulnerable enemy objectives.

Storm Shield
Located in the center of the map, the storm shield provides your champion with a major offensive and defensive bonus. First, you gain a powerful shield that recharges if you stay out of combat for a few seconds. Second, your basic attacks and spells will periodically cast a lightning bolt that bounces to multiple enemies. The spawn point of this team-specific buff is always visible to both teams and requires a brief channel time to equip.

And also has several different types of items in this game mode.

Howling Abyss

Defend and Destroy

What started as a community movement has quickly developed into one of the most popular game modes in League of Legends today.
The Howling Abyss (or Murder Bridge as it’s been lovingly dubbed) features two teams of five champions battling along a single lane with no neutral territory. Champions begin play at level 3 with substantial starting gold, launching the action immediately into a pitched battle of large, drawn out team fights, instant kills and narrow escapes.

The Battle for the Abyss

The only single-lane battlefield available in League of Legends, the Howling Abyss features two bases arranged at either end of a bridge.
This bridge is defended by two turrets and an inhibitor, while the nexus is protected by a pair of turrets.
With no neutral territory to distract from the task at hand, the Howling Abyss features some of the most frequent and intense team fights of any map.

Keeping Momentum

No Healing or Shopping

The summoner platform on the Howling Abyss provides no healing, and purchasing is strictly limited. Champions can only purchase items following in the wake of a death on the battlefield. The Recall spell is also disabled in this game mode.

Health Relics

In the absence of a healing platform, you’ll find health relics spread across the bridge at even intervals. Once consumed these relics cause your champion to rapidly regenerate health and mana for a short period of time.

A Single Inhibitor

With only one lane to conquer, your team’s sole inhibitor can make or break your success in a game. Once it goes down, the attacking team will immediately start spawning two super minions per wave. Defend your inhibitor at all costs.
